Sorry for the Delay!

Sometimes real life has a way of defeating all the best of intentions.  I'm sure the next few weeks will be extremely "review" heavy, but I will return to my regular posting schedule starting this Friday!  So... Stay Tuned...

Nineteen Days and Counting...

Space Marine from THQ is almost here!  See the countdown clock here: http://www.spacemarine.com/home

Also floating around the internet is news that he demo for the game will be released August 23.  The PC version, downloadable on Steam, will be available August 18.  From everything I've heard, this game is completely living up to the hype and the THQ experience of the license.

Way to go THQ!  Now... let's go smash some ork faces!

THQ Still Loves GW

With the upcoming release of THQ's Space Marine, there is a bit of chatter as to whether or not Space Marine is just another Gears of War clone.  As THIS REVIEW will tell you, that claim is utter nonsense!  Below are a couple of screen shots that accompany the review:

Ok, so this wasn't much of a post, but I'm getting jazzed for the release of this game!  September just can't come soon enough...

Public Service Announcement: Sucker Punch

Is it just me, or does this movie look like it's going to be a LOT of fun?  I enjoyed Watchmen and 300, so I have high hopes for Snyder's next installment.  Let's go through the checklist, shall we:

  • Sexy femme fatale
  • A whole band of sexy femmes fatale
  • A whole band of crazy sexy femmes fatale
  • A whole band of crazy sexy femmes fatale wearing anime-inspired ninja suits (do I really need to go any further along this path...)
  • Over-stylized retro setting
  • Guns, swords, knives and other hurty objects
  • Nazi's, were-beasts, mutants, zombies, and other monsters
  • Vietnam era helicopters and bombers fighting WW I planes, bombers and zeplins
  • Dragons
  • Monstrous robot samaurai
  • Other killer robots with crazy vulcan cannon arms
  • Pyscho killer combat in an anachronistic trench warfare setting

Can anyone give me two good reasons as to how this movie won't be a smash hit on the visuals alone?  This one's got so much eye candy that you'll have to watch it a dozen times just to figure out what the hell is going on!  I don't care if the script sucks for this one or not (and I don't know that it will), but I think Sucker Punch has got "guilty pleasure" written all over it.  Now I'll just need to find a nice empty spot in my movie cabinet...

Enjoy the trailer:

Public Service Announcement: Buy a Calendar

Folks, it's the middle of March, and you still haven't purchased a calendar for 2011?!  For shame...  But since you've been lazy and have already been missing appointments in droves, might I suggest:

Calendars are pushy... but sometimes they are candidates for being an absolute 'good.'  In the words of one of the most interesting men in the world...  "Stay thirsty, my friends."

Running a little late...

I'm running a little late with last Friday's post.  I blame it on Turkey day, but I'll make up for it with a post later today.  After that I'll return to my regular posting schedule.

Like Clockwork... and Other Applicable Idoms

I really need to put this thing on a schedule.  How about every Wednesday and Friday?  That will encourage me to make sure there is actually something to read here on a regular basis, and it won't require you to check back every day to wonder whether or not I've bothered updating.  So, until tommorrow - - move along folks, there's nothing to see here.

New Feature: Movies to See and Movies to Skip

I've got an interesting feature that I'd like to add to this little blog.  I watch a lot of odd movies -- partially because I really enjoy the 'watch it now' feature of Netflix, and partially because I do not subscribe to cable or satellite (yeah, I know, I know...).  From time to time I'll offer a movie that I recommend for viewing to like-minded individuals, and one I'd recommend you skip.

Alpha Post

The first post should be monumental and important, nay, immortal. But this one won't be. In the coming days I will be shifting this blog around to something far more interesting than my past political drivel. Stay tuned... or not. It's entirely up to you!
